My next favorite new toy?
By far the best thing about Radio is the integrated RSS feed reader. So in my innovative-once-somebody-else-does-it way, I thought “somebody should build me a free RSS reader with a builtin Blogger API client.” Thanks to a link from Rogi, I see that someone did (well, is working on would be more accurate): Newz Crawler has had an API client for a couple of days now (and, um, it does work like it’s two days old: last time I tried this post, it crashed and took the post with it, possibly because the API seems to be down right now). Right now it’s just copy from the feed reader, paste to the API client, but I presume it will be more integrated as it settles in. I’ll be watching.
Hey there :)
Newzcrawlers cool isn’t it? I’ve been using it for some months and never had any problems with it. As for the ’bloggertool’….erm…well, I’m sure it will also be cool in the end. :-)
See you,
Thanks for your warm words about my NewzCrawler. I keep working on it and I’ll appreciate any feedback from people using it. Especially I’d like to hear your opinion about what is the blogger tool of your dream. Together we’ll make it faster and better. So welcome to the NewzCrawler’s forum.
So, I’m news to Newz Crawler:
I assume the Blog Agent can be used to post to your blog from within the program…How does this work? I’m having trouble setting this up. For one thing, I don’t know what ”port” is needed, and I don’t even know what ”end point” means…
Also, what username and password should I be entering? the one I use to access blogger.com, or my ftp info?
I really appreciate your help! Thanks!
Confusing little bugger, isn’t it? I hope Andrew’s just busy behind the scenes, and hasn’t stopped working on it.
Setup for Blogger:
Host: plant.blogger.com
Port: 80
End point: /api/RPC2
And use your Blogger Username and Password
How did you do the XML subscription function that allows subscription to this blog and any comments. I could use that as a notify feature —-maybefor my comments, possibly, I guess depending on the comments system being used there…….I use Radio and its comment system on my blog
thanks
How do I do it? Easily. (I kill me.) Movable Type lets you have as many templates for each archive type as you want, so I just have another template for individual entry archives, quite a bit like the one that generates this page, only this one generates RSS instead.
How would you do it with radioComments? Um. I think you would have to use something like marcpasc’s Stapler tool, which is a Radio addin to generate RSS from arbitrary web pages, since it doesn’t look like radioComments actually offers an RSS feed directly. Oddly enough.
However, as I sort of halfway explain over in your comments, you may well be able to get email notifications, once someone has made the first comment to get a thread started on radiocomments.userland.com. Not sure yet, since someone other than me will have to comment in that thread for me to get an email and find out for sure that it works.
