Google-ache

Every so often I like to actually research something, rather than just posting off the top of my head. I thought I would resurrect bloggertech as a place for essays, starting with one on how things like archive frequency, link structure, and categories affect the all-mighty PageRank. Oh, my aching head. Five hours yesterday, another four today, and I really wish they did use PigeonRank. So far, all I’m sure of is that Webmaster World’s Google forum is a great timesink.

It’s purple outside your house right now. A lovely, lovely shade of lavendar.

Still hard at work and ignoring the general public?

Rats, I had a sunset and missed it? Starting next week, I’ll get to get home before dark, so I can look for it.

That’s odd. I just tested all three that I regularly use, and they are all working right now (the barrysworld.com one does tend to get a bit flaky on the weekends, though). Have you been blackholed? My ISP is particularly bad about hopping on the blackhole bandwagon, so if it’s the address down by the bay that isn’t working for you, that could well be it (or, incompetant as they are, they might have crashed the server overnight).

nope, definitely not blackholed :) neither are you.

I use all the automated bots for keeping my spam lists up to date

the error does say transient so we will wait and see I guess.

The whole friggin’ Internet is a timesink.

The WORST thing I can do is start looking for something on Google. ”Hm, wonder who said x? Oh, look, here’s ABC, he said y. Then there’s that book by G that I was looking for. Ooh, cute kitten pictures! Wait, what was I going to do next? Oh, yeah, time to see if there’s any news at aintitcool.com.”

Feh.
