VerySharpReader
Despite my aversion to three-paned RSS readers, at first glance the feature list for SharpReader sounded pretty good, and the good thing about YA3PDNA is that it doesn’t take many bytes to do big things with .Net, since you already downloaded that huge runtime, so trying out new programs doesn’t take much commitment. Plus, I’m a sucker for anyone who has my feed showing in the screenshot.
First thoughts:
- Nice clean interface
- Adding feeds through an address bar that does autodiscovery beats an icon that opens a dialog box hands down
- Hey, a comment link. Using more than just title/description/link is a good sign.
- Red channel title for feed errors, with an item that offers a link to the RSS validator, and a link to email an error report if it turns out to be valid? Very nice!
- (Add my feed, and Sam’s, since it supports xhtml:body in RSS) Hey, what’s that plus icon?…
Oooh, baby. That’s not a review that I give lightly. I really doubt that a three-pane aggregator can scale up to hundreds of feeds, so I don’t know how I could possibly switch to it, unless, say, Luke wanted to add in an option to show a single page of unread items a la Radio, but still… Oooh, baby, that’s one nice RSS reader.
