Question: What is the syntax of <itunes:block>?

Answer: If there is a block AND the value is “yes” case-insensitive: <itunes:block>yes</itunes:block> Then the value is considered true.

You can’t imagine how much it pleases me to see that, the answer specifically and the process generally. Well done, Ernie, and thank you.

If you are interested in and concerned about how Apple products produce and consume RSS, in Safari or iTunes or Garageband or the Chapter Tool, you now have an opportunity and a responsibility: get on the list (and please, be nice: remember, this is Apple, not Microsoft ;)).

(I’m pretty sure Sam will have written a fairly similar post by now, but I purposely didn’t look first, to see how close we would come. Bet he doesn’t have the “Gee, I weally wish that Apple wouldn’t do that.” quote, though.)

Boy, that worked well, didn’t it? What with establishing the open and public syndication-dev list and all. The only forward motion I’ve seen in the past few weeks was my monthly reminder that I’m on yet another useless mailing list, populated by the usual suspects and a handful of managers.

I hate to get all cliched and Cluetrained, but HEY APPLE: We know some people from your company. They’re pretty cool online. Do you have any more like that you’re hiding? Can they come out and play?

Seriously though, question and answer. We’ve asked Apple roughly two dozen questions, and they’ve answered roughly two. Statistically speaking, we’re doing worse than Rosencrantz and Guildenstern did in ”Hamlet” — and they got hanged at the end on the play. I’m equally optimistic about syndication-dev.

Sigh. The fact that I’m starting to think I ought to think about a more efficient way of doing that disturbs me.

Like Phil, I am very pleased to see this occurring. I’ve already made added a test case and made the change to the validator, though it will be a several hours before these changes are online. I’ve also asked my next question. Since Phil
