Just in case I need this for something again, since I’m sure to lose it in the Movable Type forum: a plugin to keep Google from indexing blank comments.

Make a copy of mt-comments.cgi, name it mt-nocomments.cgi, and don’t forget to chmod it 755.

Download CommentSwap.zip, unzip it, and upload CommentSwap.pl to your mt/plugins directory.

Then change the comment link in your template(s) so that instead of linking to “mt-comments.cgi” it links to <$MTCommentSwap$>, which will be replaced by mt-nocomments.cgi until you get a comment, when it’s replaced by mt-comments.cgi. Just add mt-nocomments.cgi to your robots.txt file, and Google will stop wasting time indexing all your blank comments.
