I ♥ blo.gs

Monday, April 29th, 2002

Have I mentioned lately just how much I love using blo.gs to manage my blogroll? Both Shelley and Jonathon changed urls while switching to Movable Type this weekend. With ordinary links to them in my template, I would be digging through my html for the links, pasting in the new urls, and publishing/republishing my archives. […]

That explains that search

Sunday, April 28th, 2002

I was a little puzzled by the search referrals from “Mike’s Hard Iced Tea Second Head” until I saw a bit of the commercial (with the TV muted, so I still don’t know what it’s all about), featuring a guy with a second head growing out of his shoulder. I’m guessing that the second head […]

RSS now Radio-safe

Saturday, April 27th, 2002

As Mark Pilgrim and Jon Udell discovered last month, Radio UserLand has a bug in its “News” page (an RSS aggregator), where a perfectly correctly encoded feed that includes sample HTML will interpret the HTML rather than displaying it. It looks like UserLand is in no hurry to fix it, if they plan on fixing […]

Post a link to open a document in any program

With most things, I don’t have any problem forming an opinion. At all. However, I have to admit that I’m not quite sure what to think of Add Applications to Your Blog. It’s a “marketing blog” (an ad in the form of a blog), which I don’t entirely object to (after all, if someone pays […]

Virus writer humor

Thursday, April 25th, 2002

you were sent an E-Mail from [Blogger user who has done this to me twice (or possibly not)], containing the W32/Klez.H@mm virus in the setup.exe attachment. The subject of the E-Mail was “W32.Klez.E removal tools”. While I’m not a big fan of virus writers, I do like a nice bit of social engineering.

Wednesday, April 24th, 2002

If you want an RSS feed for this blog, my first shot at it, an RSS 0.92 feed, is available at http://www.philringnalda.com/rss/rss092main.php, thanks to a push from Brent Ashley. More on what it is, why 0.92, and why I’m rolling my own, once I get done doing my RSS 1.0 feed. Someday soon.

Too many people looking back

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2002

On this day in 2001: In the editor, click on “Team” (button at the top), then your name, then “Edit My Profile” (link at the right). (I know, not very exciting, but as near as I can tell, that was my first post to Blogger’s Discuss forum, making this my one year anniversary of helping […]

They’re lookin’ back

Monday, April 22nd, 2002

If you have PHP and posts from a year ago that you are willing to look at yourself, much less point other people toward, Bill has a PHP class to create a link to last year that’s yours for the asking.

Google ♥ <title>s

Since my Big Blog Tool blog did the work, I’ll let it do the talking, too.

This may take some time…

I knew there was some reason why I was going to download Mozilla 1.0rc1 while I was sleeping the other night. Then lack of good sense took over, and I decided not to, since I rarely use Mozilla (it may be better, it may be worse, but it’s different, and the main thing I want […]
